Asking Questions & Conversations

How to ask questions in natural language, use follow-ups, voice input, suggestions and more in the Veezoo chat.

Veezoo lets you ask questions about your business data the same way you would ask a colleague: in plain language, in a chat. There is no special syntax to learn - just type what you want to know, for example:

  • "What was our revenue last quarter?"
  • "Top 10 customers by sales in 2025"
  • "How did the number of orders develop per month, split by region?"

Behind the scenes, the Veezoo AI agent interprets your question using your company's Knowledge Graph, queries your database and streams the answer back to you. If you want to know how this works, see the Architecture Overview.

Autocomplete while you type

As you type, Veezoo suggests matching concepts from your Knowledge Graph - measures, attributes, entities and previously asked questions. Selecting a suggestion completes your input with that concept, so you can be sure Veezoo refers to exactly the customer, product or KPI you mean.

You do not have to use the suggestions: free-form questions work just as well. Autocomplete is most useful when you want to be precise about a specific entity (for example a customer with an unusual name) or when you want to discover what data is available.

When the input is empty, Veezoo also shows your recently asked questions so you can quickly re-run or adapt them.

Question suggestions

Below the input field, Veezoo shows suggestion chips with example questions that work on your data. They are a great starting point when you are new to a dataset - just click one to ask it. You can also click What can I ask? or What data is there? on the welcome screen to get an overview of your dataset.

Quick Actions

The welcome screen shows a set of Actions - one-click starting points for common workflows:

  • Get Started: learn how to ask questions and explore your data
  • Explore Data: discover what insights are available in your data
  • Create a Dashboard: build your first dashboard with key metrics
  • Optimize Knowledge Graph (for Creators): improve how Veezoo understands your data

Click Run on an action to start it. Use More Actions and Manage Quick Actions to see all available actions and pin the ones you use most.

Follow-up questions

Conversations in Veezoo have memory. There are two ways to build on a previous answer:

  • Implicit follow-ups: simply refer to the previous answer in your next question. After asking "Revenue by country in 2025", you can just say "only for Switzerland" or "break it down by segment" - Veezoo modifies the previous query accordingly.
  • Explicit follow-ups: click the Ask a follow-up question chip on an answer to anchor your next question to it. This also works on widgets in a board or on a canvas, so you can drill into any number you see on a dashboard.

If Veezoo treated a question as a follow-up but you meant it independently (or the other way around), you can remove the follow-up reference or re-ask the question - the chat shows the follow-up context above the input so you always know what your next question will refer to.

While Veezoo works

Answers stream in live, so you see progress as it happens:

  • Status lines tell you what the agent is currently doing, for example "Searching for ...", "Executing SQL query..." or "Waiting for database results...".
  • Task checklist: for complex questions the agent first breaks the work into tasks and shows a checklist ("2 of 5 tasks completed") that updates as each step finishes.
  • Text, charts and tables appear as soon as they are ready - you do not have to wait for the full answer to start reading.

Canceling and asking again

  • Click Stop generating to interrupt an answer that is no longer needed. The chat marks it as interrupted by you.
  • If an answer went wrong or you want a second attempt, you can retry the question - Veezoo answers it again from scratch. You can also click Edit this question on a previous message to adjust and re-ask it.

Voice input

You can dictate questions instead of typing them. Click the microphone icon (Dictate your question) in the input field:

  1. Veezoo shows Listening... while you speak.
  2. Click Stop and insert text to transcribe your speech into the input field, where you can still edit it before sending.
  3. Use Discard recording to cancel, or Try again if the transcription did not catch what you said.

Your browser will ask for microphone permission the first time you use voice input.

Choosing the AI model

Veezoo uses two model tiers to answer questions:

  • Base Model: used for most requests - fast and accurate for everyday questions.
  • Advanced Model: used for complex tasks, upgraded automatically on demand.

You do not need to think about this: Veezoo picks the right tier for each request automatically, and the models themselves are managed by Veezoo (see AI & Data Settings).

Browser notifications

Some questions - deep analyses, large reports, complex canvases - take a while to answer. You do not have to watch the chat: enable browser notifications when Veezoo offers them (or in your settings under Notifications), then switch to another tab and keep working. Veezoo notifies you when your answer is ready.

The setting is stored per browser and device, and a Veezoo tab needs to stay open in the background.

Multi-language support

You can ask questions in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, and the Veezoo interface is available in all six languages as well. Set your preferred language in your user settings - Veezoo answers in the language you ask in.
