Canvases

Interactive reports and mini-apps that Veezoo builds for you - explore them with live inputs, refine them with AI edits, and export them to PowerPoint.

A Canvas is an interactive report that Veezoo builds for you - somewhere between a document and a mini-app. Where a regular answer gives you one chart or table, a Canvas combines rich layout, text, charts and tables with interactive elements such as dropdowns, date pickers and sliders, so you (and everyone you share it with) can explore the data instead of just reading it.

Canvases are Veezoo's default output for report-style requests: briefings, one-pagers, executive summaries, weekly overviews, slide decks and small interactive tools.

Getting a Canvas

Ask for one in the chat, the same way you ask any question:

"Create a one-pager on last quarter's sales performance"

"Build me a briefing on customer churn with a filter for country"

"Make a slide deck summarizing this year's marketing KPIs"

Veezoo plans the report, runs the necessary queries and assembles the Canvas live in front of you. Veezoo may also suggest opening an answer as a canvas when a richer, interactive format fits your request better than a single chart.

Viewing a Canvas

A Canvas can be displayed in two ways, and you can switch between them at any time using the buttons in the Canvas header:

  • Side panel: the Canvas opens next to the chat, so you can keep asking questions while the report stays visible.
  • In chat: the Canvas is embedded in the conversation like any other answer.

You can also open a Canvas in fullscreen for presentations, or collapse it to keep the chat tidy.

Interacting with a Canvas

Canvases are live, not static documents:

  • Inputs re-query your data. When a Canvas contains a dropdown, date picker, slider or similar control, changing it re-runs the underlying queries and updates the charts and numbers with fresh results from your database.
  • Numbers show their source. Hover over a data point to see Source of this data - a tooltip pointing to the answer the number came from. This is the same verification that applies to numbers in chat answers: every figure is checked against the actual query results before it is displayed. See Understanding Answers.
  • Verify a claim. Select a piece of text and choose Verify claim to have Veezoo re-check a statement against the underlying data and annotate it with its sources.

Editing with AI

Click the edit button in the Canvas header to enter edit mode, then click on any element - a paragraph, a chart, a table - to comment on it. The Edit with AI popup lets you attach a note to the selected element:

  • Add - describe something new to insert.
  • Update - describe how the element should change.
  • Remove - mark the element for removal.

You can also select a text passage and edit just that part, or add a note about the whole canvas.

Instead of sending each change separately, you can queue several edits: add notes on multiple elements, then send everything together with a single click (or Cmd/Ctrl+Enter). Veezoo applies all queued edits in one pass, which is faster and keeps the layout consistent.

For quick polish you can also make small manual edits directly in edit mode: adjust text formatting, move or resize elements, and undo or redo changes - no AI round trip needed.

Saving, replacing and sharing

  • Save: click Save Canvas in the Canvas header to add it to the sidebar under your saved items. Like boards, saved Canvases can be organized into folders.
  • Replace: when saving, you can choose Replace Existing Canvas to overwrite one of your saved Canvases with the new version - handy when you iterate on a recurring report.
  • Share: share a Canvas with other users just like a board - with individual users, groups or your whole organization. Users subscribe to shared Canvases via the Browse Shared Items window, which adds them to their sidebar. See Sharing Boards & Items.

Since a Canvas stays connected to your data, everyone who opens it sees current numbers, filtered by their own data permissions.

Exporting to PowerPoint

A slide-style Canvas can be downloaded as a real, editable PowerPoint presentation:

  1. Open the Canvas actions menu and choose Export to PowerPoint.
  2. Veezoo converts the slides one by one and downloads a .pptx file.

The result is not a bundle of screenshots: text boxes, images and layout come through as editable PowerPoint objects, so you can adjust the deck afterwards. Presentations of up to 50 slides are supported.

Version control with VKL

Creators can select Transform to VKL Canvas in the Canvas actions menu to turn a Canvas into code that lives in the Knowledge Graph:

  • All Creator users can edit it in Veezoo Studio, with full Git history.
  • It is available in development branches.
  • It is shared with its roles, or with every user who has access to the Knowledge Graph.
  • The original owner ceases to be the owner, and edits go through Studio instead of the Canvas UI.

This is the right choice for governed, organization-wide reports that should be reviewed like any other change to the Knowledge Graph.
